FAQ
What is the South Florida HBCU Picnic?
Founded in 2015, the South Florida HBCU Picnic is an annual gathering of HBCU alumni, students, and their families and friends. Its purpose is to strengthen local alumni associations and raise money for students from South Florida to attend HBCUs across the nation. It is the largest gathering of Black professionals in South Florida.
Where will the picnic be held?
The Annual South Florida HBCU Picnic will take place at Rolling Oaks Park in Miami Gardens, FL.
How much does it cost to attend?
We suggest a minimum donation of $10; please do more. The adult admission ticket is a direct donation to scholarships for students from South Florida attending HBCUs nationwide. The students (and their families) who receive a scholarship based on your generosity will appreciate it.
Due to our donation-based ticketing system, each ticket must be processed individually. If you are bringing guests, please ensure each adult registers separately or complete the forms on their behalf. All adults are expected to contribute to the scholarship fund, while children attend for free and do not need a ticket.
For any questions, please email info@sfhbcupicnic.com.
Is this a family-friendly event?
Yes, bring the kids and the family! We will have music, games, and plenty of fun things to do. If you have an idea or want to do something in particular, let us know.
Do kids need a ticket?
No, only adults need a ticket. Kids are free as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
Will there be food?
Is alcohol allowed?
City of Miami Gardens parks ordinance prohibits alcoholic beverages in parks as a default rule.
